Solutions & Services – Roadshow 2022

Solutions & Services are very pleased to be able to offer our Roadshows for 2022.

We look forward to meeting with you again and providing regional professional development for Business Managers, Finance Administrators, Principals and interested Board members.

As all of our schools now use Xero, and most use the appstack components - including Monty, we have redesigned the format of our Roadshow for this year to offer more workshop style sessions. We don’t need to be presenting to such large groups, or demonstrating, to the same extent now.

This year attendees will be in two groups in the morning, come together for lunch and a shared session, with a further break in the afternoon. We encourage Principals and interested Board members to attend also. If you wish to bring a laptop, or share, that would be great, but not essential. Our aim is for the sessions this year to be more practical – mostly in smaller groups.

More of our team will be involved to enable these smaller groups and assist with more hands-on professional development. Unfortunately, we have had to increase our Roadshow course fees to allow for increased costs re venues, catering and travel.

We think it is very important that finance staff are able to attend and we welcome Principals and Board members.


8.45am - Morning tea on arrival and registration

9am – Workshop One – 2022 School Finances Update

Attendees will be in two groups and in two seminar rooms *

The first group will focus on “Coming to grips with school finances and getting to know Xero and Monty better”.

The second group will be more appropriate for those that are more familiar with school finances, have accounting experience, and are “Flying higher with school finances using Xero and the appstack”.

The workshop topics will include annual accounts updates and processes, latest developments, management reporting, special financial issues for schools, cyclical maintenance, managing fixed asset registers and an efficient end of year timeline, and tips for using Xero / Monty / Hubdoc / ApprovalMax.

We will hydrate you, have you stretch, provide brain snacks, and aim to keep you motivated! It’s a great chance to get together for very relevant professional development.

11.30am - Shared session and lunch together

(Principals are encouraged to come for lunch and the afternoon session especially)

A light lunch will be served and provide a chance to chat together. Then we will share some updates for the full group – including e-invoicing, the latest re school audits, and introduce AssetAnnie our new Xero app for managing school fixed assets.

1.30pm Workshop Two - Budgeting

We will split into two groups again so that the pace of the workshops can be more appropriate to your experience and understanding about budgeting for schools.

We will have practical exercises using Monty and your own data if you wish to bring a laptop (or share a device if two come from the same school).

School budgets are only becoming more complex so we will cover helpful tools and tips.

The workshop will include points to consider re the process overall (why budgets are more than just a statutory requirement), preparation of Operating budgets, Capital budgets, and an introduction only to the budgeted Statement of Financial Position and the budgeted Statement of Cash Flows.

Time for questions will be important and prioritising simplicity over complexity!

Tip sheets and notes will be provided and emailed to you after the session.


The fee for the full day is $230 + GST and includes lunch. If two attendees from the same school register the fee is $215 + GST each. If there are staff that wish to come for the morning or afternoon only, the half day fee is $125 +GST each and includes the lunch catering and shared session.

We do encourage you to register early as some venues have limits on numbers in the conference rooms that we have booked.
