This course is here to help you navigate these challenges with clarity and support. Frequently asked questions
This is not a Parenting Through Separation ("PTS") course. A PTS course in a mandated course that is required by the Family Court before applying for Care and Contact orders. While there may be some cross-over with the PTS course, the Stepping Stones course has a greater focus on self-care.
While there is a focus on parents going through separation. There are many skills that can be gained from this course for couples separating that don't have to consider young children.
Kidz Need Dadz is a national charity that assists parents, and we operate on the "best interests of the child" principle. We are offering this course on-line over three weeks (Monday evenings 7.00pm - 9.00pm). So you can attend from the comfort of your own home. Rule of thumb is the first hour is going through the PowerPoint presentation. The second hour is open discussion and Q&A.
Absolutely. While at times it might seem that we could be catering more towards the dads in the audience, mums might also learn something useful about the male psyche (also useful if you are dealing with sons). Guaranteed to be educational.
This was a group effort within Kidz Need Dadz field workers and staff. Kidz Need Dadz have long-standing staff with some individuals who have up to 25 years' experience, as well as legally trained staff and teachers. We have a lot of real-life experience to offer attendees.
Nothing in this course should be taken as legal advice, see a competent family lawyer who can give you advice specific to your situation. The Stepping Stones course does give a general overview of the Family Court process and strategy on how to best navigate that, but we do not offer legal advice.
When you book on the course, we will email you and if you wish you can then give us the name of your ex. If your ex then also wants to attend, we will bump them onto the next available course. However, some couples who are considering separating amicably may wish to attend the same course.
