About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Steve Sinclair is co-founder and director of fourth_space, a practice that seeks to "rescue space to make places," to "recycle bits of left-over architecture," and to make Architecture as "a unifying discipline - politics, regulation, location, design, finance, construction and user experience - that should maintain social and artistic concerns."

Steve studied at the Mackintosh School of Architecture and the Bartlett School before completing an MSc at the London School of Economics. He worked at Morphosis, Ron Arad Associates, FAT (Fashion Architecture Taste), and Harper Mackay (MAK), before joining Paolo Mozzato in 2004, and subsequently Huw Williams, to form fourth_space.

In addition to directing fourth_space Steve is a design advisor to the Hackney Estate Regeneration Design Group, teaches at the AA and is co-owner of award winning Ombra bar & restaurant - where the “Negroni_Talks...!” happen. Available on podcast, these events "promote looser, all-encompassing engagements with greater participation, as well as dispelling false authority and un-challengable ‘expert’ opinions.... "

Steve's lecture is hosted by Te Kāhui Whaihanga ~ New Zealand Institute of Architecture in association with School of Architecture and Design, Victoria University of Wellington ~ Te Herenga Waka and the Architectural Centre.
