Stopping Killer Robots: Human Rights Day Forum
Event Information
About this event
You are invited to our online Human Rights Day Forum on the looming threat to humanity posed by fully autonomous weapon systems (killer robots) and the launch of the Aotearoa New Zealand Campaign to Stop Killer Robots’ new initiative.
Presenters: Mary Wareham, Global Coordinator, Campaign to Stop Killer Robots; Philip Solaris, CEO, X-craft; Edwina Hughes, Coordinator, Aotearoa New Zealand Campaign; and Prof Michael Winikoff, Co-Author of the 2019 NZ Open Letter on Killer Robots.
Fully autonomous weapons are robotic weapons with the ability to select targets and attack independently, without any human involvement. The Campaign to Stop Killer Robots is working for new international law to ensure meaningful human control is retained over any target selection and attack decision by prohibiting the development, production, and use of fully autonomous weapon systems.
