Description

Aiming for Medical School in Auckland?

As doctors and medical students ourselves, we know there are a lot of rumours floating around about medical school. Are grades THAT important? What separates successful students from the crowd? How important is UCAT really? What doesn't work in uni that worked fine in high school?

We're going to tell you the honest truth about getting into med school, delivered by NZ's only medical training support organisation run by doctors and medical students. Read about our organisation's mission below.

And back by popular demand, we are also including an in-depth study skills session to dramatically increase your studying efficiency. We received feedback from over 80 students in 2019 to bring this back, so we're doing just that!

WE WILL BE COVERING:

  • What successful students do to enter med school - mindsets, perspectives, techniques and preparation that can significantly impact your chances.
  • How do high school results translate into first-year premed papers? How good is an Excellence in first-year?
  • What to expect from studying medicine at Auckland and working as a doctor - we'll tell you the first-hand truth about the medical pathway. What is the sacrifice? How bad is it? Is it worth it? How much do you get paid? And much more.
  • The biggest mistakes 90% of students make and how you can avoid them - Believe it or not, almost every student that wasn't successful entering medical school made one of three key mistakes. And they are ENTIRELY avoidable.
  • How you can maximise your chances to be in the top 10% - Just avoiding mistakes isn't always enough. What can you do to secure a competitive advantage when only 10% of students are successful?
  • Proven techniques to help you study twice as much in half the time - We're experts at helping students study more effectively. Most students are very limited by their studying techniques. We'll teach you to use your brain the way it LIKES to think, to tackle academic content like you'd tackle a game or a hobby.

WHAT IS JTT? WHAT ARE WE ABOUT?

JTT is an NZ social enterprise owned and operated by doctors and medical students to holistically support future doctors. We are the only organisation of its kind in NZ and our primary purpose is to produce a positive social impact. Unlike most companies, we charge in order to deliver our impact, rather than to make a profit first-and-foremost.

WHO IS GIVING THE SEMINAR?

The seminar will be led by Dr Justin Sung, an NZ registered medical doctor and the most experienced medical entry mentor in New Zealand. Justin has assisted over 2000 students over almost 10 years and will be sharing his unique approaches and insight that help his students achieve success not only in entering medical school, but throughout medical training as well.

With his in-depth experience and understanding of medical entry and the medical career, students gain a systematic approach to tackling medicine and overcoming key obstacles such as burnout, study speed, life-balance and time management.
