Event description

Description

Perfect for inexperienced gardeners, this workshop will help you learn how to supplement your pantry with seasonal produce, all summer long.

Judy Keats will help you discover the keys for achieving success in your summer garden. Beginning with soil fertility, you will learn methods for building soil and how to retain moisture in it.

We will focus on plant selections for the season, growing in succession and perennials to consider for an easy care garden. Crop rotation, companion planting and compost teas will be covered, to help you make the most of your garden space during the summer months.

--

Judy Keats is a permaculturist, organic systems educator, and community garden mentor and advisor, with more than 8 years experience establishing, coordinating, and teaching in community gardens across Auckland.

Judy is passionate about wellbeing and caring for the environment in which we dwell. The health of our garden is key to successful growing and optimal yields. She believes that by observing our plants and our changing climate, we gain a closer connection to potential outcomes, which in turn leads to knowledge, and mastering resilience.

--

At Kelmarna we believe that education should be accessible for everyone, and offer a 50% discount on workshops to Community Services Card holders. If you book one of these tickets, please remember to bring your card along to the workshop.
