Event description
Join NCWNZ Christchurch Branch for a celebration of the achievement of women's suffrage in New Zealand on 19 September 1893

About this event

The Mayor of Christchurch, Hon. Lianne Dalziel will open this event. The keynote speaker will be Sarah Pallett, MP for Ilam, followed by a speaker from Heritage New Zealand. You can also hear Kate Sheppard's suffragist speech "Is it Right?", delivered by Nancy McShane. Individuals and community organisations are invited to briefly share their thoughts about women's political rights and ongoing efforts to achieve equality for women. We conclude by placing white camellias on the memorial.
