DISCOVER YOUR INNER VOICE THROUGH DRAWINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS
With Marcela Diaz
5 days (Monday 16 – Friday 20 January 2017) – 9.30am to 4pm
Level: All levels
A materials list will be emailed with the enrolment confirmation letter
About the workshop:
In this course students will be encouraged to find their own way of expressing themselves through drawings, cultivate their unique drawing style and develop an idea, which will become a complete piece. Marcela will guide the students through different exercises during which they will define their style, environment and their imagery universe. Students will also be asked to consider a conceptual approach and find the best way to visually translate their ideas. They will finally bring it all together in a final piece, and consider ways of displaying it via an e-zine or a printed publication. This is the perfect illustration course for beginners and intermediate sketchers who have something to say and want to explore the images as an effective way to communicate.
About Marcela Diaz:
Marcela Díaz, from Columbia, started drawing when she was 25 after graduating in Industrial Design and became a Lecturer in Design. After an artist residency in Bogota, Columbia in 2010, she became a full time free-lance illustrator. Marcela’s work is representative of her love for travelling and most of her art supplies have to fit in a small pencil case in a backpack: watercolour, ink and pencils. Her travel diaries illustrations, portraits and humoristic daily routine drawings can be seen in Wanaka - where she immigrated in 2013. Marcela has had several solo and group exhibitions in Argentina and Wanaka.
