Neighbourhoods around the south west of Christchurch hosting dinners. It's a chance to share some kai, meet others, and swap stories.
About this event
Experience: Local Neighbourhood Dinners
Imagine a colourful neighbourhood full of vibrant village life. It’s a dream that’s always been close to the heart of God, that is told from the beginning to the end of the Bible. It’s straight out of the nature of God that Jesus reveals. Jesus moved into the neighbourhood, he embodied the kingdom, living it out 24/7 and teaching others to do the same.
This is a chance to share some kai with people who have been on the Presence Based Church journey for a little while, or a longer while, and swap stories about neighbourhood life.
Location & venues
Dinner will be hosted at multiple locations around southwest Ōtautahi . After signing up, you will be told as to which of these locations you will be going to. We will be mixing these up, so we are unable to say where you might be heading before signing up. We do promise good kai and conversations though! We will email you the week prior to this dinner with all the location and venue details.
Transport
No transport is provided.
Group Bookings
We need to balance logistics with keeping people together. For this reason, we are only able to ensure that families who register at the same time are hosted by the same community, as will groups of two or three people who register in a single order.
All individual registrations and adults who register at the same time will be allocated to different dinner locations based on numbers.
Who we are: South West Baptist Church
South West Baptist Church is a church on a journey towards becoming a more Presence Based Church. This means we are making slow and deliberate movements towards solidarity with a people and a place.
Our commitment to this journey is guided by our timeless kingdom vision focused on Redemptive Communities and Lifelong Followers and a sense that we are responding to where the Holy Spirit is at work bringing new life and raising up a new way of living out our redemptive life.
Presence Based Church Wānanga Week 2021
The purpose of Wānanga Week is to help us consider how we – the church, the body of Jesus – respond to the world around us and journey together towards kingdom transformation in the places we live.
We believe God is calling us to become more place-based, to take steps towards becoming a more Presence Based Church, individually and collectively.
Wānanga Week is a space to reflect on this call – and to help us find our feet within the story of what Jesus is doing in our neighbourhoods. Together we’ll explore some of the ideas and experiences of what it means to be a Presence Based Church.
Throughout the week there’ll be many different ways to connect in. We’ll be sharing kai in neighbourhoods, swapping stories, and creating space to kōrero about different topics facing our world and how we can respond.
