The competency and update workshops provide the knowledge and practical skills required to manage a subcutaneous syringe driver in the practice setting and a knowledge of medicines for end of life symptom management. Successful completion of a practical assessment and a written test is required for certification.

For NMH staff there is a different training module. The programme will include the Ko Awatea Learn subcutaneous medication package. NMH staff are required to complete the NMH practical competency session and NMH online subcutaneous medication course for full NMH competency
