Description

We'd love to have you join us for our social enterprise community event!

Over the last eight weeks, five local social entrepreneurs have worked intensively towards tackling a social or environmental issue through our Te Hiringa Hononga Community Social Enterprise Programme. These ventures are tackling affordable housing, health & safety in the forestry industry, pathways for rangatahi in design, incubating economic development in Uawa and creating employment opportunities on the East Coast with bioactive products.

Come and hear exciting solutions from:

  • Train Me Quality Services Ltd - Steve Beach, Henry Koia and Christine Beach
  • Hikurangi Enterprises - Manu Caddie, Panapa Ehau and Hemi Eruera
  • Ahuru Mowai Housing - Lizz, Josephine and Tom Crawford
  • Kaea Media - Jimi Hills
  • Tolaga Bay Inn - Lily Stender

Te Hiringa Hononga Community Social Enterprise Programme is powered by the Ākina Foundation and
Māori Women's Development Inc (MWDI) with support from our primary funder – Te Puni Kōkiri.

Social Enterprise Tairāwhiti is launching!

Social enterprise has huge potential in strengthening the wellbeing of our region, not only in terms of helping to grow the economic prosperity of Te Tairāwhiti, but also in bringing forward new ways of tackling some of our most challenging social and environmental issues. We know that success at a local level will be brought about when local people and local solutions drive the agenda. A collaboration of local social enterprises, entrepreneurs and supporters have begun working together to create transformational and sustainable change in Tairāwhiti using social enterprise models. A new Social Enterprise Tairāwhiti group has been established that will help to support the local social enterprise sector to thrive and deliver positive impact in the community. Come along and hear more about our work and future plans!

Arrive at the wharenui from 5:30pm for a 6pm start and stay for kai and korero afterwards.

Please RSVP for your free ticket and so we know how much kai to make!
