About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Come join us for a free guided rock pooling experience with Mountains to Sea. Come and learn about the amazing world that exists within rockpools and some of the native species that call the rocky reef tidal zone home!

This event provides a taster into rock pooling and rocky shore ecology. Conditions permitting - we will run with light rain. Backup date if the weather is bad - Thursday, 28th August (you will be contacted).

Mountains to Sea runs a series of free and subsidised events over the summer months - we rely on your support to make them happen. We appreciate donations, either cash/eftpos on the day, online or by giving a koha of your time volunteering at a future event.

Suitable for ages 4+. Children under 13 need adult supervision at all times.

Please note there will be uneven ground, walking over rocks and balancing. We can accomodate those who are unable to travese over the rocks by bringing the rock pool critters to you! Please email if this option is required.

This event is funded thanks to the Bobby Stafford Bush Foundation & donations.

Organised by

Established in 2002 in Northland, Mountains to Sea sees education as a vital part of society and central to all environmental restoration. Our marine and freshwater programmes involve young people, their parents and the wider community. The Experiencing Marine Reserves (EMR) and Whitebait Connection (WBC) programmes reinforce simple concepts such as the uniqueness of our freshwater and marine biodiversity and provide an active focus on conservation of these environments through education and action.
