About this Event
'Tama tū tama ora, tama noho tama mate'
Taken from the whakatauki, 'Tama Tū, Tama Ora’, is a call to a generation of men to rise up and take their place in order to move forward into a future of hope, life and well-being (and their whanau).
Tama Tū Tama Ora will be a day of immersion for tāne Māori in te ao Māori me ōna tikanga, a chance to tune into themselves and connect with each other. Using the knowledge systems of our ancestors, we want to provide a safe space for tāne to unshackle themselves from the toxic masculine identities that have been forced upon them through colonisation.
Drawing substance from a broad expanse of mātauranga and whakapapa Māori, Tama Tū Tama Ora takes a holistic approach to health, designed to strengthen all taha of our whare - spiritually, mentally and physically.
An amazing day facilitated by George Kingi and Jason Paahi.
Set against the beutiful backdrop of Muriwai Beach, we will start at 9:00am as tikanga Māori dictates, with a whakawātea (in the form of karakia and a mihi whakatau) preparing the space for the day. Mātauranga Māori will be in action, through movement, healing and kōrero.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided, with transport from Henderson available to those who need it. To indicate dietary or transport requirements click here...
We love a goody pack and have some awesome taonga for our to tāne to take home.
Please bring something to swim in as we will be getting into the wai for some of our mahi.
Nau mai, whakatau mai!
