Ngā Taumata Rau Aotearoa Māori Business Leaders Awards, recognise and celebrate outstanding Māori excellence and success in business. 2022 is a continuation of the journey started in 2021 which provides opportunities for past and future sponsors, Māori leader and Māori business to engage especially with rangatira mō āpōpō. They will share and inspire taiohi, rangatahi who will engage with them sharing their experience in:
- Governance
- Cultural ethos
- Kaitiakitanga
- Entrepreneurship
- Digital solutions
Asia is a fast changing and super diverse region leading the world in growth, innovation and many other areas. There’s no doubt an understanding and exposure to Asia is going to be essential for future careers – but choosing to take advantage of Asia focused opportunities can give you a boost straight out of University and provide you with super rewarding life experiences. Come hear from both a former interns and leadership network members of the Asia New Zealand Foundation Te Whītau Tūhono about their inspiring stories, how they have woven Asia into their careers and about some of the opportunities that are available to you.

Kahu Tapsell-Bennett
Kahu was selected for a business internship with Singapore company Shiok Meats, which produces cultivated or "lab-grown" seafood. She has a presence in a range of other industries including acting, hosting, and gaming. Kahu sits on the New Zealand Esports Federation women’s committee. She grew up in Rotorua where she was head prefect at high school, continuing her education to obtain a BA in Psychology. She is currently doing her Master of Business Management.
Campbell Gin
Campbell (Ngāpuhi, Ngāruahine) is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. He works for a 100% Māori owned business, Port Nicholson Fisheries LP, that exports LIVE New Zealand Lobster to China. He has a Masters in Business Management and first graduated with a conjoint Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree. He is an admitted barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. He has previously completed internships at Parininihi Ki Waitotara (PKW) and the other at Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development where he produced a report on the Perpetual Leases of Reserved Lands in Taranaki for PKW and a report on the West Coast Harbour Settlements for Waikato-Tainui.
Ethan Jones (Facilatator)
Ethan grew up on a dairy farm in Te Hiku o Te Ika (the Far North) before studying Chinese and a bit of Economics at Uni. He later moved to China where he lived for almost five years, studying Mandarin then working for Anheuser-Busch Inbev – the world’s largest beer company – helping them expand the craft beer market in Shanghai. Ethan moved back to Te Hiku o Te Ika in 2019 to start a tourism company focused on the international Chinese market. Ethan is now senior adviser in the Asia New Zealand Foundation’s business programme – supporting New Zealand’s business engagement with wider Asia.
