Event Information
About this event
Tauiwi Tautoko (non-māori in support of māori) is a 10 week program that weaves together online training and in-person hui (gatherings) to provide you with the tools, community and courage to participate in online conversations about race relations, the Treaty with evidence-based listening and messaging techniques.
The course focusses its practice in online spaces but what you learn will also be useful for those difficult conversations in your day to day.
The program starts with a full-day in person training hui on April 2nd and ends with a half day in person retro hui on June 12th.
Weekly webinars are provided throughout the course of the programme for ongoing learning and community support. These will be held online every Thursday evening starting on 14 April from 7 to 8.30pm.
There is no fee to participate, though volunteers will have to be willing to contribute approximately 2 hours work per week in addition to attending the training hui. (About 30 hours over 11 weeks)
Participants will have to be comfortable with spending time online, specifically on Facebook for training purposes. A computer or tablet are advised to make the most of the resources and participation.
Please do not apply if you are not available for the all day training hui on April 2nd.
