Whānau/ Hāpori mō Te Iho Tātai-ā-Rongo
Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Iho Tātai-ā-Rongo
We warmly welcome you to Te Iho Tātai-ā-Rongo, a special gathering held at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Papaonekura — a place of connection, and kaupapa. This event is a celebration of whanaungatanga, mātauranga, and Te Iho Tātai-ā-Rongo, where we come together as a united whānau and community.
Why We’re Gathering
This is more than just an event — it’s a space to kōrero openly and compassionately about te roro (the brain), and to deepen our understanding of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). We’ll explore the impacts of FASD across generations, share lived experiences, and offer practical strategies to support our mokopuna, rangatahi, mātua, and kaumātua.
What to Expect
- Whakawhanaungatanga: Connect with whānau, friends, and community members in a safe and welcoming environment
- Kōrero & Workshops: Learn from experts, storytellers, and those with lived experience of FASD
- Celebration of Identity: Honour our Mokopuna, Rangatahi, Mātua, Kōroua, Kuia, and the wider community
- Sharing Stories: Hear intergenerational stories that inspire, inform, and uplift
- Practical Tools: Take away ideas and resources to support wellbeing and understanding in your own whānau
Our Purpose
Together, we aim to build awareness, reduce stigma, and strengthen the collective knowledge around FASD. By embracing mātauranga Māori and weaving it with insights from a whānau view, we create a holistic approach to healing, support, and empowerment.
