This year, our whakataukī is Mā te kimi ka kite, Mā te kite ka mōhio, Mā te mōhio ka mārama – "By seeking, you will find; by finding, you will know; by knowing, you will understand." It reflects the Te Manu Tāiko program’s focus on helping tauira Māori discover, learn, and gain clarity as they engage with the wider Massey University whānau whānui.
Te Manu Tāiko offers a unique opportunity for tauira Māori to connect, build leadership skills, and foster whakawhanaungatanga (relationships) with others interested in university life. Current students and staff will share insights to guide their academic and career choices, helping them navigate their educational journeys.
A key highlight this year is our keynote speaker, Jaedyn Randell, a New Zealand Māori singer who voiced Moana in the te reo Māori version of Disney's Moana and has performed on platforms like Waiata Nation and The Voice Australia. Jaedyn’s journey of talent, resilience, and cultural pride serves as an inspiring example for tauira Māori.
Her keynote address will offer valuable insights, motivating students to pursue their passions and embrace their cultural identity. Through this program, we aim to empower tauira Māori to confidently take charge of their academic futures and make informed decisions.
