About this event

A Wai Tuwhera o te Taiao wānanga focused on exploring post Cyclone Gabrielle eDNA results and restoration mahi.

This is an opportunity for iwi, hapū, community and catchment groups, kāwanatanga and scientists alike to come together and share knowledge about the impacts of Cyclone Gabrielle in Te Matau-a-Māui / Hawkes Bay.

Guest speakers from our science community include DOC chief scientist Mike Bunce, Professor Neil Gemmel from Otago University, Ngāti Kahungungu te Taiao leads, Wilderlab’s founder Shaun Wilkinson and community lead Amy Gault.

Community and catchment groups are also invited to share short presentations on their mahi, covering what is happening within their projects: what is working well and what support is needed to move forward as a region.
