Description
Te Rarawa Iwi Summit - He Anga Whakamua
Co-creating our future pathway forward for Te Rarawa Iwi
22nd - 24th November 2012
The purpose of the Te Rarawa summit is to bring together a broad range of our Te Rarawa whānau and hapū to input into and critique the future direction for Te Rarawa.
We hope that will lead to stronger relationships between one another and the consolidation of a long term strategic direction and the development of a shared vision for the future.
Expected outcomes of the summit would include:
1. Whakawhānaungatanga – Reaffirming and understanding who we are and how we relate to one another is an essential component of the summit outcome. We hope to acknowledge, establish and encourage knowledge of our tūpuna and our respective marae and hapū. We will aim to identify and strengthen the different connections/relationships we have with one another in order to reconnect and bind us as Te Rarawa people.
2. Mōhiotanga/Māramatanga – It is important to share our collective journey of who we are and what we have done to this point as an Iwi. This will help us launch into engaging discussion for our individual and collective aspirations for the future. We aim to listen to and collate attendee feedback to the following 4 pou model, the cultural, economic, environmental and social needs, aspirations of whānau, marae and hapū for the iwi.
3. Ngā Moemoeā – Together we will discuss key goals and objectives across a number of sectors including: education, te reo, housing, employment, training, economic development, wairuatanga, whānau, marae and hapū development, environment, politics, the arts and history in order to co-create and develop a comprehensive and holistic vision for the future of Te Rarawa.
We hope this summit will generate meaningful discussions and provide a focal point to the future direction and wellbeing of individuals, whānau, hapū marae and organisations of Te Rarawa and will attract many of our people to return and contribute to the on-going development and properity of our Iwi as a whole.
Nōu te rourou, Nāku te rourou, ka ora ai - tātou katoa
We look forward to seeing you there
