Explore the Christchurch family home where Kate led a campaign of national and international activism, planning strategies with leading feminists of the time, and pasting together the pages of the monster 31,872-signature women's suffrage petition.

Stroll through the garden where Kate received the telegram on 19 September 1893 confirming that women had been granted the vote.

Sessions times and tickets

Due to the small spaces and interactive nature of Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House, 45 minute sessions will be available for one bubble at a time with the following start times:

10am, 10.45am, 11.30am, 12.15pm, 1pm, 1.45pm, 2.30pm, 3.15pm

Please note, if a session is not showing as available, it has been fully booked.

To book your tickets:

  1. Choose your session time and date by clicking on the orange button "Select A Date"
  2. Scroll down to see all available sessions and click to orange button "Tickets" for your chosen session.
  3. Select your first ticket and select qty as 1.
  4. BEFORE you click "Checkout", scroll down to "Add-ons" to add tickets for others in your bubble.
  5. Once you have added tickets for all in your bubble, then click "Checkout" to make payment and complete the order.

Alert level 2 updates

Under Delta Alert Level 2, visitors to Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House will be required to:

  • Sign in using the QR code or manual sign in sheet
  • Wear a face covering
  • Keep a 2m distance from staff and other visitors who are not in your bubble
  • Stay home if you are unwell

To keep you safe, we are cleaning regularly and thoroughly, including in between each session.

Please wait at the front door for staff to allow you inside.

Parking

Limited parking is available on the street, please allow extra time for parking during university term time. Try the University of Canterbury's pay and display Clyde carpark on Arts Road (5 minute walk), or take bus 100 or 120, which both have stops outside on Clyde Road. Please contact us prior to booking if you require accessible parking.
