Event description
Take a trip down memory lane at the old Shortland Street Studios with TV veterans Jennie Goodwin and Lindsay Benbrook.

About this Event

The former Shortland Street Studios is now home to Gus Fisher Gallery, the University of Auckland's flagship contemporary art gallery. To celebrate 60 years since the first public television broadcast in Aotearoa New Zealand, Gus Fisher Gallery presents their new exhibition, The Medium is the Message: Television Now and Then. This exhibition brings together rarely-seen archival footage and ephemera from the building's time as television studios, paired with contemporary art works exploring television's impact on our culture.

Join us on Friday 14 August from 5:30 pm for an exclusive tour of the exhibition and the old studios, which have almost been left untouched. This will be followed by a talk with Jennie Goodwin and Lindsay Benbrook about their memories of working in the early days of television. Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
