Event description

Description

Agile is a way of thinking and a way of operating. To get the true benefits of agile, it is important to look beyond frameworks and processes to the agile mindset. This course is designed to help attendees understand how to build and adopt an agile mindset. It is a non-technical course, focusing on how to apply agile to any situation, not just software. It explores the underlying values, principles and practices of agile, helping attendees experience and understand them.

The course balances providing a solid appreciation of agile thinking, while also providing practical outcomes that can immediately be put to use, based on real-world experiences applying agile outside of IT. It is taught using an experiential approach, where attendees interact with the content in a very participative, activity-based way. We make extensive use of games, activities, peer-learning, reflection.

Duration: 2 days

Suited to: people interested in looking at how agile can be applied to any business situation, not just IT.

Agenda:

  • What is an Agile Mindset? We talk about agile stemming from an agile mindset, but what exactly is an agile mindset and how do you go about developing one?
  • Customer Centricity – how can we ensure that the things we are doing are actually thing that our customers care about? We look into Design Thinking, Lean Start up and Agile to understand how to reduce the risk of making the wrong thing by involving the customer in the journey.
  • Value management – how do we estimate and measure value? How can we relentlessly focus on value-adding activities and strip out wasteful activities?
  • Planning – we know no plan survives first contact with reality, therefore needs to be able to change, but how do we manage the balance between enough planning and too much?
  • Team based problem solving – complex business problems are best solved by teams of people with a range of different perspectives. How can we foster a collaborative team culture? How can we create an environment where people bring the best version of themselves to work each day?
  • Culture – how can we adapt our culture to fit with this new way of working? What do we need to change?

The course is accredited under the ICAgile curriculum and participants who actively attend the full course obtain the ICAgile Certified Professional certification.
