For the Love of Bees is excited to be collaborating with Live Lightly, Ellen Melville Centre and Lily Hirsch to bring you Round Five of our Films for the Future - A Hopeful Film Series.

This series offers you a movie experience partnered with the chance to meet a local hero working on a real project in your town. You will learn a real skill on the night that you can take away and implement immediately.

GET INSPIRED - LEARN - TAKE ACTION

WATCH: The Clean Bin Project. Is it possible to live completely waste free? In this multi-award winning festival favourite, partners Jen and Grant go head to head in a competition to see who can swear off consumerism and produce the least garbage Their light-hearted competition is set against a darker examination of the problem waste. Even as Grant and Jen start to garner interest in their project, they struggle to find meaning in their minuscule influence on the large-scale environmental impacts of our “throw-away society”. Described as An Inconvenient Truth meets Super Size Me, The Clean Bin Project features laugh out loud moments, stop motion animations, and unforgettable imagery. Captivating interviews with renowned artist, Chris Jordan and TED Lecturer Captain Charles Moore, make this film a fun and inspiring call to individual action that speaks to crowds of all ages.

LEARN: How to compost with Judy Keats from the Compost Collective. As the film says, composting is the best thing you can do to make an impactful start in reducing your waste.
Her workshop will start at 6 in the square. Register here so you can claim a $40 discount on a composting system of your choice:

HEAR FROM: Holly Dove from The Kiwi Bottle Drive. Holly will explain a Container Deposit Scheme - a high-impact upstream solution that has found success overseas in tackling waste. This is a tool that can greatly reduce litter - and isn't just for improving plastic recycling! Warren Snow, waste expert from the Entrust Foundation has called the Container Deposit Scheme a stepping stone in the wider zero waste journey and a trojan horse for bringing back refilling like the old days.
