The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of NFTs
Event Information
About this event
NFTs (Non-fungible tokens) have exploded onto peoples’ consciousness over the past year, but what exactly is an NFT?
An NFT is a digital asset the represents real-world objects like art, music, games and videos. They are bought and sold online (frequently with cryptocurrency) and encoded with software.
Although existing since 2014, NFTs are gaining notoriety because they are becoming an increasingly popular way to buy and sell digital work.
Join the conversation hosted by Depot Artspace as we demystify and explain what NFTs are. We will also have a panel of discussion featuring creative practitioners and artists, sharing their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges posed by NFTs in Aotearoa and beyond.
Our guest panellists include:
- Darryl Chin (Creative Producer/Interdisciplinary Artist)
- Katrina Iosia (AR Designer and Developer)
- Nina Dyer (Depot Artspace Exhibition Curator & Manager)
- Sefton Rani (Sculptural painter)
- Scott Lawrie (Scott Lawrie Gallery Director)
