The Grounding Workshop follows Music Therapy New Zealand's Annual General Meeting, at the Onehunga Community Centre, 83 Church Street, Onehunga, Auckland.
The MThNZ bi-cultural relationships group are proud to be supporting ‘The Grounding Workshop’. We are fortunate enough to be able to significantly subsidise this workshop to ensure that it is affordable for Music Therapy New Zealalnd Members to attend.
Join us at 11am for a music making session with NZ Registered Music Therapist Chris O'Connor, then a delicious lunch with the workshop commencing at 1pm.
'The Grounding Workshop' will explore notions of cultural competence, cultural safety and cultural intelligence in a professional facilitated conversation. Including:
- The colonisation of Aotearoa-New Zealand and its implications for now and beyond
- Unconscious bias including structural institutional racism
- That it is not enough to just be “not racist” – we must be “anti-racist”
- Dismantling racism with intelligence
- Inequity is evidence of bias
- The most up-to-date international discourse on racism and anti-racism
- Exploring tokenism vs authenticity
- The Engaging Well formula/strategy for dealing with racism
