A five day workshop as part of Summer School 2017
Monotypes are painterly by nature—made by drawing or painting onto a non-absorbent surface before printing. And as the name suggests, only one impression can be pulled. This workshop covers a variety of techniques including dark-field and light-field manners, collage/chine-collé, stencilling, and printing with multiple layers of transparent inks, We’ll explore oil-based inks and watercolours are utilised as well as water-soluble crayons and pencils. Experimentation and “happy accidents” are encouraged!
About Duncan Pepep Long:
Largely a self-taught artist, Duncan is a true draughtsman. His technical ability is always impressive and yet it is the temptation of chaos that brings his work to life with a sense of poetry. Now based in Wellington, Pepe is the Associate Printmaker at Auckland Print Studio where he has been collaborating with many New Zealand and International artists, all the while honing his skills in lithography, monotype and woodcut printmaking.
