Event description

Description

We warmly invite you to our Bishop Sir Paul Reeves Memorial Lecture 2018.

Presented by Leadership New Zealand, this year's distinguished speaker is Simon Moutter, Managing Director of Spark who will address the topic of:

AWAKENED LEADERSHIP: A HEART-LED APPROACH IN BUSINESS

In 2017, Simon Moutter opened up about the “uncomfortable truths” facing his organisation. Despite his best intentions and a huge effort to implement systems and processes, he had fallen short of creating the truly inclusive workplace he knew Spark needed to be.

In the months that have followed, Simon has set out to put as much focus on changing values and behaviours as he had previously put on changing diversity metrics. His ultimate goal is for every Spark employee to feel they can bring their whole self to work. In the process, he has gone on his own awakened leadership journey and opened up a bigger discussion about New Zealand workplace culture and what we as a nation need to change.

In this lecture, Simon offers insights on how we can create a truly diverse and inclusive business culture, the role leadership must play in shaping that culture and why driving this change is so crucial for a prosperous Aotearoa New Zealand in the digital age.

SIMON MOUTTER

Simon was appointed Managing Director of Spark in 2013. In this position, he works to ensure the company has a sound strategy in place and applies his leadership and management capability to deliver on that strategy and run an efficient business. He has led the reinvention of Telecom to Spark, to better reflect the fast-changing new world of digital services. Simon returned to Spark in mid-2012, having managed most parts of Telecom as Chief Operating Officer during the years 2003-2008. In the intervening years he led Auckland International Airport for a period of four years, in which he transformed the customer experience and delivered a significant uplift in its growth trajectory.
