The life blood of venture capital flows from the remarkable entrepreneurial people that we invest in. Those people are not always found in well known co-working spaces in Auckland or part of Australasian incubator programmes. In fact, in my experience, the founders that I have enjoyed working with the most are found in locations or walks of life that are a little less well-trodden.

Combining this philosophy with our goal to become Aotearoa New Zealand’s preferred source of startup capital, we felt it right to kick off 2021 with a roadshow to as many of NZ’s entrepreneurial hubs as possible. Between late January and the beginning of July, we will be dropping into eleven different cities and hosting networking events and AMA’s (Ask Me Anything) to get to know you a little bit better.

Joining us on the journey will be Phil Taylor, who is a Partner at New Zealand’s leading commercial law firm, Tompkins Wake. In addition to being Hillfarrance’s legal counsel, Phil has an extensive knowledge of startup law and the various opportunities and challenges that lie in wait for founders when establishing and raising money for their company.

What you can expect at each event:

The objective of these events is to provide interactive content that sparks discussion on the topic of how you can get your startup off the ground. Each event will include:

A fireside chat with Hillfarrance Managing Partner, Rob Vickery, and Tompkins Wake Partner, Phil Taylor. We may also include local friends and colleagues in the content.

A 30 min AMA (“Ask Me Anything”) on any and all aspects of building and raising capital for a startup. In particular, we want to know how best we can serve you as entrepreneurs. What do you need from us?

Plenty of opportunities for networking before and after the event.
