Event description

Description

Kata: noun – a system of training or a choreographed pattern that is practised to build expertise

As business and life move ever faster, change and the need to continuously improve are just constantly with us, yet we struggle to get any meaningful improvement that sticks. A great many continuous improvement programs fail simply because they are focusing only on the big bang or long-term picture or worse jumping to conclusions instead of working on the next small step in the process, that’s not how continuous improvement is meant to work!

Join us for this great hands-on learning workshop on Toyota Kata where we will give an overview of the Improvement Kata and the Coaching Kata, which are the underlying fundamentals of a lean continuous improvement program.

By using the Improvement & Coaching Kata you will

  • Develop new habits that allow everyone to think differently about problems and goals
  • A way of working, and of working together, that also helps your managers and leaders move to a coaching approach and away from command and control
  • Using scientific thinking as an ingredient to make teams and organizations more effective and successful while at the same time more creative!
  • Move your culture towards one that understands that you need to experiment and adapt to the outcomes, adopting a growth mindset rather than a fixed one.
  • Improve the agility of your organisation by understanding how rapid changes and experiments allows you to change course based on factual learning rather than gut.

  • Attendees will be working in teams of 5 to run through practical applications of the Improvement and coaching Kata as they aim to improve their team’s performance on the critical task of reducing the time involved in building a new product.
