About this event

The Waipapa Taumata Rau Transdisciplinary Ideation Fund encourages and invites research staff from across the University to develop cross-faculty research partnerships, aspiring toward high-quality transdisciplinary research outputs and successful applications to external research funders.

Applications can gain up to $60k from this fund and must involve application team leaders that are from at least two Faculties or Large-Scale Research Institutes (LSRIs). Funding will commence from 1 January 2024 and must be fully expended by the end of December 2025.

Submission Deadline: Monday October 30, 5pm

Transdisciplinary Ideation Workshop

This workshop will facilitate new cross-faculty research collaborations and is designed for academic staff who are intending to pursue transdisciplinary research.

Date and Time: Monday 4 September 2023, 8.30am to 3pm (lunch provided)

Location: City Campus, Unleash Space, 20 Symonds Street

Please note that space is limited, and registration is essential. Registrations close on 13 August 2023.

Guest speakers will include Professors Frank Bloomfield (DVC-R), Ashley Bloomfield (Director PPII), and Mark Hurdley (Research Manager Horizon Europe), on approaches to building local and international partnerships. Hear also from colleagues about their experiences with transdisciplinary research.

A Facilitated Ideation Workshop will follow, supported by Associate Deans Research and the ORSI team. This in-person ideation workshop will support research staff towards developing cross-Faculty teams and proposals for the Waipapa Taumata Rau Transdisciplinary Ideation Fund.

Attendance at the workshop is recommended, but not essential, for applicants to TIF.

This Transdisciplinary Ideation Fund is a partnership between all Faculties and LSRIs, the Office of Research Strategy and Integrity (ORSI) and UniServices.
