Event description
An in-person workshop for service providers to share their experience of providing transport service for disabled people

About this event

PLEASE NOTE THIS WORKSHOP HAS NOW BEEN MOVED ONLINE IN ORDER TO MINIMISE RISK OF COVID-19 DISRUPTION.

The Disabled Persons Assembly, together with transport consultancy MRCagney, are conducting research on behalf of Waka Kotahi, NZ Transport Agency, titled "Understanding the transport experiences of disabled people, determining what barriers exist for people wanting to use Total Mobility and exploring new opportunities".

This work involves collecting the experiences of organisations and providers of transport services for Disabled People. We will run a workshop in Auckland and Wellington. This particular workshop is for service providers from Wellington and any nearby regions who can make it on the day.

For this work, we define service providers as:

i. Transport providers, including taxi, Uber/rideshare, community transport

ii. Local government people working in provision of transport services (including Public Transport and Total Mobility) that impacts disabled people

iii. Disability advocacy and service providers who assess people for Total Mobility, administer transport services, and who advocate for disabled people’s access to transport

We have already run a series of workshops for disabled people to share their experiences, but if you are a disabled person who would like to share your experiences of transport, please contact paul.brown@dpa.org.nz

To get a mixture of people from each of these groups, we have allocated our tickets by these groups. If your group is full but you would like to participate, please email fthomas@mrcagney.com to see if there is space to reallocate tickets.

The workshop will be run for approximately 2 hours and will be co-facilitated by Fiona Thomas, of MRCagney, and Paul Brown from the Disabled Persons Assembly.

The workshop will be held online and a Zoom link sent to all participants.

Please register with your name and email address.

Please get in touch with Paul Brown using the details below if you would like to register your interest for our Auckland workshop or have questions about this research. We will also be publishing a survey for service providers to complete.

If you have any questions about the workshop or this project, please contact Paul Brown from the Disabled Persons Assembly on paul.brown@dpa.org.nz
