Event description

Description

"Tūmanako" (Hope)...

This is a short film developed by young Māori Mothers at He Huarahi Tamariki and local film company Falkirk Films This is a kaupapa Māori based Action Research Project and is part of the Vicoria University of Wellington Youth Wellbeing study. The script for this film was developed from a series of hui with the young mothers around their experiences and hopes for the project.

The film explores some of the challenges that the young mothers have faced and the strategies they’ve used—both successful and non-successful to deal with the challenges. The film will also explore how capable these young mothers are.

The young woman wanted to create the film to give hope to other young mothers, to show to them that they’re not alone and offer some coping skills. They also want the film to raise awareness about the societal stigma surrounding young mothers, and showcase how independent they are.

It would be great to see you there to support the kaupapa of this project!
