Event description
Understanding and Applying Aboriginal Perspectives in Facilitation

About this event

A practical, hands on workshop which looks at various participatory practices which have an Indigenous context and useful in our modern facilitation world

We currently live in a time of dramatic changes not only within our fast evolving political and technological world but we are witnessing vast environmental changes.

People are awakening and realising that ancient processes do not necessarily mean out dated technology, but a sustainable foundation which may hold the answers to many of today’s modern group dynamic issues.

When considering these issues, it is facilitators and group consensus workers who are crucial for the bridging of these two worlds. This will allow a more shared mix of knowledge and understanding to create a better future.

In this program you will:

Understand the values that underpin Aboriginal and broader Indigenous practices in a facilitation context.

Discuss how we can apply and customise these practices in our work and add them to our facilitative toolbox.

Understand key facilitation practices and how they exist within an Indigenous context, these include:

• Cultural safety

• The power of group energy

• Cultural connection to land

• Indigenous values

• Eldership

• Cross cultural time frames

• Circle work, and more

This program is for:

Practicing and emerging facilitators

Facilitators who wish to bring a deeper meaning to their facilitation practices.
