Description

This year, as one of the highlights of our Literacy Week programme we are introducing an evening event entitled, ‘Untamed Stories'.

Six storytellers will speak for 10 minutes with no notes, music, special effects or supporting technology, telling a story based on our chosen theme for the evening, ‘Turning Points’. They will speak from a raised platform to create a more intimate setting.

We are thrilled to announce who five of the speakers are, the first is Fraser Brown, Actor, Creative Producer and Old Collegian. Fraser’s acting highlights include “Archie Baxter” in Field Punishment No 1, The Insiders Guide to Happiness, Erebus: Operation Overdue, and upcoming feature films 25 April and The Patriarch.

Joining him will be Tim Wilson (who was here as Writer in Residence last year), Tim is a novelist, former TVNZ US correspondent and current Seven Sharp reporter and Ali Ikram, journalist, writer and broadcaster, most recently seen on Campbell Live. Ali is also our Writer in Residence for the week.

Two of the storytellers are our very own Tasesa Lavea, First XV coach and former professional rugby player and Year 13 award-winning writer Nic Yan.

Drinks will be available for audience members over 18. Due to the serving of alcohol students will be seated upstairs.

Please note that this evening is not suitable for any younger children who are not yet at secondary school.
