Event description

Description

Hi Explorers

We are excited to again be invited to GNS Avalon to meet with their amazing team of scientists and learn more about the environment around us. After our last trip of volcanoes and earthquakes, we are this time off to find out more about our water systems, and as the title says Where does our water come from? Keeping our water safe.

Much of the tap water we drink is extracted from underground aquifers around New Zealand. It is important to know where our drinking water comes from so we can have confidence that it is uncontaminated and safe to drink. Join scientists Mike Toews and Heather Martindale to learn how water flows underground and techniques that we use to ensure safe drinking water. We will also discuss issues around New Zealand.

Mike and Heather have put together and interactive evening for us of information, discussions intersperced with activities to get us up and moving and learn about our most precious resource water.

This event is open to all Explorer members and families, you will be required to register your attendance by responding to the link with this email. It is important that registration is completed as we will need to advise GNS of numbers for safety and security reasons. There is no cost for this event. Bookings will close on Tuesday 22nd August 6pm.

We look forward to seeing you at the event. Please arrive by 4.20pm so that we are ready and seated in the auditorium for a 4.30pm start.

With regards

Wellington Explorers Committee
