About this event

When working with kids who have complex behaviours there is so much scope for things to go wrong. Kids can push us away through their actions or pushback and resist relationship and connection when we try to provide it. Behaviours such as anxiety, counterwill (pushing back against direction) aggression and a tendency to take an alpha stance are all typical responses whanau encounter.

Play provides a surprisingly simple yet effective answer to these problems. Play can melt defences, release emotions, invite attachment, and tend to the emotional needs of kids with wounding experiences.

This one day training provides professionals and parents insight into four key dynamics that emerge when working with kids:
- Anxiety
- Counterwill
- Alpha Behaviours
- Aggression

The material makes sense of these challenging behaviours from an attachment-based, developmental and trauma-informed model using insight from the Neufeld Institute. Experiential play workshops are included in each module of the training to assist attendees in understanding how to release emotions and heal through play.

This 4 week online course will run on Monday evenings from 7-9pm from June 10th to July 1st.
