Beyond the data: valuing Good Research Practice
The credibility of research findings that supports the advancement of knowledge is an important, if not the most important, building block for promoting trust and confidence in research.
In addition to the increasing demands competing with research time, researchers now also have to navigate a complex landscape where research has become a commodity that is exploited by some, detrimentally affecting the trustworthiness, validity and value of research.
In two separate workshops, Elizabeth Visser, the University’s Research Integrity Officer, will be unpacking this research landscape and discuss the practicalities of Good Research Practice (GRP) and the Research Integrity Policy, and authorship and publication. Tools available for navigating through this complexity will be highlighted.
15 October 2025 at 11 am to 12:30 pm on Zoom: The first workshops will cover general Good Research Practice (GRP) concepts, acceptable practices of GenAI tools when writing papers, notebook keeping and the difference between Questionable Research Practices (QRPs) and Research Misconduct. Register here on Eventbrite.
22 October 2025 at 11 am to 12:30 pm on Zoom: The second workshop that will be focusing on good research practices in authorship and publication. To register, follow this link to the Eventbrite registration page.
