Event description
Water Resilience Workshop will outline a range of solutions that can help you make informed decisions around water harvesting for your home

About this Event

The winter rains are here, but the water shortage crisis in New Zealand, especially the Auckland and Northland regions, is far from being resolved! Auckland dams are just over half-full and will need to reach 80% to avert a crippling water shortage disaster in the summer. Why not take advantage of the rains and ensure your family's water needs are covered?

Our 2-hour Online Water Resilience Workshop, presented via Zoom, will be presented by permaculture teacher, Guenther Andraschko. The themes of the discussion will cover:

- Potential solutions to help you make informed decisions around rainwater harvesting, exploring both the possibilities and limitations.

- Using water in the landscape (outdoor use)

- Calculating your potential catchment versus usage.

- Water quality for different uses

- Council regulations around rainwater harvesting

- Catchment and diversion of greywater in your home water systems

- Use and benefits of composting toilets.

- Rainwater harvesting system outlining all elements and working designs, comparing materials and other considerations.

Your registration fee also gains you access to a library of useful resources, collated and created by the tutor, including a water resource calculator to guide you in understanding your water needs.
