Event description
This workshop with Judy Keats is your crash course for getting to know the good, the bad, and the edible in the wild world of weeds!

About this Event

For many gardeners, weeds can be one of the most time consuming and stress inducing aspects of keeping a tidy patch. But what if we said there’s more to weeds than toil and trouble?

In this workshop, Judy Keats will take you on a tour of discovery with weeds. You will observe both beneficial and noxious weeds and work through different methods of management. You will also explore how weeds can contribute positively to systems designed to generate humus rich soil, nutritious liquid fertiliser, and mulch from even the noxious offenders, all in doing our best to utilise every aspect of the garden for soil restoration, water retention, and mineral balance.

If you have a particular issue in your garden, feel free to bring photos or controlled samples of your weeds, and Judy will do her best to get them identified and discuss how best to manage them.

Join us to become more familiar with a selection of edible weeds as well, and reimagine certain pesky plants as veritable super foods that can complement a balanced diet and enhance wellbeing. You will even get a chance to try it for yourself with a shot of Judy’s ‘wild weed’ smoothie!
