Join us for a webinar on our upcoming emissions reduction monitoring report, which will soon be released. The report gauges the progress that Aotearoa New Zealand is making towards meeting the country’s emissions budgets and 2050 target.
Chief Executive Jo Hendy and Project Director Rob Carr will provide a high-level overview of the Commission’s monitoring role, our findings, and our recommendation to the Government.
Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions about the aspects you are most interested in.
We will also be hosting a zui for iwi/Māori at a later date. Follow our LinkedIn or check our website to be updated on when registrations open.
Our role & approach
We have used the same approach and framework as last year. However, since our 2024 report, the Government has formally amended the first emissions reduction plan and finalised the second emissions reduction plan. This means that the factors that we assessed against have changed.
About these reports
These reports provide an evidence-based, impartial view of whether the country is on course to reach its goals of reducing and removing greenhouse gas emissions.
They provide insights into the progress made, challenges experienced, and opportunities and risks that need to be considered.
The reports are annual, so provide a series of snapshots that build a picture over time of how country is tracking.
Once the report is released, it will be available on our website, alongside supporting plain language summaries and graphs showing our key findings, at: climatecommission.govt.nz/erm-2025
