This webinar will explain how to draft employment agreements so that they comply with the law, and protect the organisation while avoiding common mistakes. The webinar will cover:

  • Mandatory clauses required by law
  • Dealing with fixed term and casual arrangements
  • Trial periods
  • Conditions of employment (eg right to work in New Zealand)
  • Bonding and recovery of training costs
  • Availability provisions
  • Drug and alcohol testing
  • Grounds for termination
  • Other suggested clauses

Participants will gain a practical "how to" guide for drafting employment agreements, and tips on common mistakes to avoid.

Guido Ballara is a Partner at McBride Davenport James. Guido has specialised in employment law throughout his career, and acts for corporate and individual clients across all areas of the subject. Guido has also worked as an in-house HR/legal advisor at a state sector client.

Saadi Radcliffe is a Senior Solicitor within the employment law team at McBride Davenport James. He has worked as a Judges’ Clerk for three years, and has prior experience in the financial services sector for one of the ‘Big Four’ international professional services firms in Wellington.

Cancellation Policy

An appropriate substitute participant is welcome any time before the webinar starts. Please let us know the replacement's name. If you have booked on a member price and a non member is to attend in your place you will be invoiced for the difference in price.

A refund of fees will be made if a cancellation is received in writing at least 10 working days prior to the commencement of the webinar.

Regrettably, no refunds can be made for cancellations received after this date and you are liable for the full cost of attendance at the webinar.
