Research in the Cook Islands – A Review of the Fundamentals is the first in a new webinar series spotlighting Cook Islands research.

The session will be facilitated by Dr Josephine Aumea Herman, this event brings together leading experts to unpack the essentials of doing research that is rigorous, ethical, and rooted in community knowledge.

Mr Andrew Sporle will share how quantitative approaches and data can inform Cook Islands priorities.

Dr Emma Powell will explore indigenous and qualitative methodologies that centre local voices and traditions.

Associate Professor Polly Atatoa-Carr will highlight the importance of research ethics, reciprocity, and respect for communities.


This webinar series is a collaboration between Te Marae Ora (Cook Islands Ministry of Health), Te Puna Vai Marama (Cook Islands Centre for Research), Te Vairanga Kite Pakari (Cook Islands Research Association), the Pacific Community - SPC & Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa (Centre for Pacific and Global Health).
