WEBSITE PORTFOLIO DESIGN WITH SHELLEY SIMPSON

This workshop is designed specifically for creative people who would like to create their own website. By the end of the weekend, students will have set up a professional, easy to maintain, low-cost website that showcases their work and acts as an archive using the online platform WIX.
Artists websites have specific requirements. Students will identify what they need their website to do and have a clear pathway to creating a website that works for them and their audience.
This hands-on weekend course will cover topics such as:
- Defining audience
- Project planning
- WIX overview
- Template choice
- Image sizing and uploading
- Text formatting
- Google search optimisation
- And more…


Note from the tutor:

- Participants need to have a basic level of computer ability: Be able to use Word - Be able to transfer photos from their camera or phone or USB stick - Be able to send emails
- Students will need to complete a task before the course and fill out a pre-planning document including questions on their intended outcome: Website content: images, text, video, audio. This will be supplied a couple of week before the course, once the course is confirmed to run.
- iMac computers provided



TWO DAY COURSE: SATURDAY 28 & SUNDAY 29 OCTOBER FROM 10AM TO 4.30PM.

Includes 1/2 hour lunch break - BYO

About Shelley Simpson:

Shelley has taught digital media for many years. She has worked previously at Media Design School and AUT. She has taught workshops at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, Brownes School of Art and privately.
She ran her own business making websites for a long time and had many happy clients. Now, however, she prefers to give others the knowledge and skills to make their own sites.
Shelley is also a practicing artist and completed her MFA at Elam in 2016. You can look at her own art website here: shelleysimpson.co.nz
As an artist herself, Shelley is knowledgeable about and sympathetic to the requirements that creative people have in the online environment. Shelley has a Certificate in Tertiary Teaching from AUT
