Event description

Description

Would you like to grow an edible garden? Imagine wandering outside and picking your favourite herbs, salad greens and vegetables to eat right away... they won't even need to get stored in your fridge anymore.

Thanks to the support of the Whau Local Board, Green Bay Community House is able to offer weekly Edible Gardening sessions at the Community House. Come and learn in our garden.

What will get taught?

- Composting, worm farming, managing green waste on a home scale

- Designing a garden to grow food throughout the year

- Options for herbs and companion plants that are edible and/or useful in composting

- How to incorporate edible flowers into your home garden.

- Container gardening.

- Growing your own food from seed: making seed-raising mix, potting mix, garden mix

- Seed harvesting, propagating herbs from cuttings.

- Some basic Biodynamic practices to incorporate in a home/school/work garden setting.

Taught by Katrina Wolff from Blue Borage, these Wednesday sessions will cover the basics of edible gardening, perfect for those new to growing food in Auckland. The tuition is free, with the $5 fee going towards room hire, seeds and Biodynamic preparations.
