WEMCR workshop - publishing.
Date and time
Description
We all know how important it is to get our research findings out to the world, both to our peers and to the public.
This WEMCR workshop will focus on disseminating research both in scientific journals and through blogs and social media. Topics covered will include selecting an appropriate journal for your manuscript, top 10 reasons papers are rejected, the pros and cons of open access journals as well as an introduction to Publons.
Our speaker are:
Hilary Hamnett (now at ESR, previously worked in scientific journal publishing)
Paul Gardner (University of Canterbury)
Andrew Preston (Publons)
Leon Perrie (Te Papa).
The workshop will take the form of a series of short presentations with time after the presentations for discussion. We will also have some Rutherford Discovery Fellows attending for you to discuss your Rutherford application for next year.
Wellington Early- and Mid-career Researchers (WEMCR) is a newly formed group with the aims of providing a support network and identifying and addressing issues affecting early- and mid-career researchers in the lower North Island.
Who is an EMCR? The Australian Academy of Science considers an EMCR to be a researcher who is under 15 years post-PhD (or other research higher degree) irrespective of their professional appointment.
The event is kindly supported by ESR.
