Event description
It’s arrived. A vision about how our city will look 30 years from now is taking shape, and we’re keen to know what you think.

About this Event

Join us from 5pm for a pre-event reception with Wellington City Councillors at the Wellington Foyer before the event kicks off at 6pm in the Soundings Theatre.

Be part of our live audience at Te Papa, or join us online by registering here . You’ll be asked to submit feedback on the spot via an interactive website on the big issues and can ask questions throughout the event. This feedback on the night will form part of the formal submission process.

Wellington City Council is planning for 50,000 to 80,000 more people over the next 30 years. We know from the 2019 Planning for Growth growth scenarios feedback that people want to see growth happening in and around the central city and suburban centres. That’s great for keeping our city compact, vibrant, and reducing cars on the road, but it puts pressure on inner-city character, and will mean higher buildings in lots of our residential areas. There are always trade-offs, and striking the right balance is no easy thing.

See what’s planned, and hear from a panel of experts about what it means for us, for our city, for the future.

Alongside MC Bryan Crump and some of our City Planners, hear from our expert panel including:

Isabella Cawthorn – Talk Wellington

Gerald Parsonson – Parsonson Architects

Arron Cox – Generation Zero

Chris Wilkinson – First Retail Group

John Milford – Wellington Chamber of Commerce

Rebecca Kiddle – Victoria University of Wellington School of Architecture

John Duguid – Auckland City Council
