A workshop to assist counsellors and social workers better support and work with grieving parents and whānau after the loss of a baby

About this Event

We are holding this workshop to inform, educate, upskill and enlighten counsellors and social workers in our region. Topics covered include:

  • Sands – who we are and what we do
  • How perinatal and infant loss affects parents and families
  • What will parents and families experience in the hospital?
  • Different kinds of losses – early loss, stillbirth, termination for fetal abnormality, neonatal death, SUDI, infant death
  • Talking about baby loss
  • What do parents tell us about their experiences with, and expectations of, counsellors and social workers?

Please note: we'll be providing tea, coffee, juice and light refreshments; please bring your own lunch if you'd like something more substantial.
