Having never encountered such a dilemma, I cannot wait to see what Hawkes Bay sommelier and freelance wine, beer, and drinks writer Jules van Crysen has up his sleeve!

As the story goes, while wine is a wonderfully versatile beverage it does not always match easily, or best to many styles of food.  Jules will discuss how tipples such as beer, cider, sake, spirits and cocktails can be matched with food; focusing on how the different flavours, textures and structural components can combine and enhance nuances of a dish, making for more exciting dining experiences.

And in Jules we trust!

By day a sommelier, and freelance wine, beer and drinks writer. By night a column contributor on craft beer and NZ wine to HomeStyle magazine and PalatePress.com. With Wellington in his heart, Jules has worked as sommelier at Citron Restaurant, at Cusine Magazine's Restaurant of the Year Riverstone Kitchen and most recently with Terroir at Craggy Range.

A fantastic class for those looking to push their palate.

City Market

The City Market is excited to partner with world pioneers of innovative kitchen technology, Gaggenau.

The City Market is home to a stunning Gaggenau kitchen in which we will be offering intimate cooking classes with Wellington’s best chefs and food personalities.  Hosted by Eat & Greet's Beth Brash, classes will take place in the City Market where you will be surrounded by bustle, bounty, and aromas every second Sunday.

With classes like dumpling making with City Market's own House of Dumplings, Lebanese cooking with Phoenician Falafel, Knife skills and butchery; not one class will be the same.

Classes will be small, so book early. Guests will have the opportunity to listen, learn, ask questions, and most importantly, taste. After 90mins of more reality than you can shake a whisk at, we’ll send you on your way with your belly full and a recipe card so that you can recreate it all again at home.  You will be well satiated and bursting with ideas.

Eat and Greet presents Gaggenau at the City Market – the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning!
