About this Event

Tena koutou

For those driving, please meet at the Koputaroa School Hall (399 Koputaroa Rd, Koputaroa 5575) at 9:30am. We expect the day to finish by 4:30pm. If you can make it, please advise us by email on admin@foma.org.nz or ring Natalie Smith on 021 297 2152 so we can make sure we can cater for the group's needs.

In addition to seeking expression of interest, this pānui provides some information on the concepts of regenerative agri and in particular the transition towards it. In my mind its about Toitu te Whenua Toitu te Tangata, the causal link between our mother earth and our human wellbeing. I see Regenerative Food production as getting back to what we knew through the way we produced food.

Below is some further information from the host of our upcoming field day, Greg Barclay (Ngāi Tahu) of Soil Connection.Regenerative TransitionFarming operations have been innovative enough to have worked within the N limited environment. However, we are now seeing conventional farming under higher scrutiny, and tighter environmental compliance is inevitable. Farming with new innovation is the key. Regenerative methods are a solution to long-term economic stability and environmental sustainability aligned with kaitiakitanga values. A common goal is ‘Net profit’. Only the pathway to that differs, and the willingness to either honour or ignore core values in its pursuit.
