Will to Live's 2019 Speak Up Tour - TAIHAPE

Suicide in rural New Zealand is higher than any other demographic having a lasting ripple effect through a community - especially with our young people, who are often the largest statistic.

ABOUT 'WILL TO LIVE'

'Will to Live' was formed as a chartiable foundation to provide on-going awareness and education through touring regional New Zealand targeted at the vulnerable young rural New Zealanders who are often isolated from essential mental health services.

Elle Perriam, founder of Will to Live, lost her partner who was a North Otago shepherd to suicide in 2017 and she is determined to spread a positive message of gratitude to encourage relisence using her late partner's huntaway, Jess, as a symbolic reminder of the need to Speak Up collectively.

ABOUT THE EVENT

On the 2019 Speak Up Tour, Elle, Jess and many inspirational local and national speakers will host a casual evening of talks & tips on the topic of getting through the tough times on your own when help might not be near, and how to navigate the storms together as a community.

BRING YOUR WILL TO LIVE : Be apart of the powerful 'Speak Up' with hundreds of dogs kicking off the night at the venue from 6.30pm, where we have a moment of silence for those that have lost the battle of depression and then a 'bark up' in unison breaks the silence. A group photo will be taken as a momento for your community, a reminder of collective strength.

As part of the event, we will provide supper and entertainment. A charity auction will take place thanks to the kind generousity of businesses in your local community with all funds going to the on-going work of Will to Live, including a 2020 tour focused on improving the education of farm managers/owners on the wellbeing of their workers.
